Pay Membership Online … In 2 Steps 

Step 1:

  • Go to https://www.paypal.com/us/home
  • At the top tool bar, click on “Buy,” then scroll to “Make a Payment.”
  • You will be asked to provide your e-mail address and the e-mail address for PABJ,    This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
  • If you are paying via PayPal, please add a $2 handling charge to your dues Full membership post $42; associate membership post $37; and student membership post $22.
  • Next fill out form with your credit card information.
  • Once your payment has been accepted proceed to Step 2.

Step 2:
Fill out the online application (You must fill the application are the membership process will not go through)
  • Make sure to fill all boxes with asterisks.
  • Press send.
  • Review “Confirmation for PABJ Membership” page. Then click “Process Payment.”
  • Your PayPal payment in Step 1 and application approval in Step 2 together serve as your membership receipt.
  • Remember: Both steps must be completed for your online membership payment to be complete.

Membership Dues
  • $40 full member (full-time journalists)
  • $35 associate member (public relations/media-related professionals, professors, and other professionals who want to affiliate with PABJ)
  • $20 student member (full-time student)

Member dues are good from January to December. Dues paid after Nov. 15 carry over to the following year.
 

Pay Membership In Person
Chapter meetings are every second Tuesday of the month. You can only pay cash in person; not through the mail.

2015 PABJ CAREER FAIR

The Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists (PABJ) would like you to participate in the 2nd Annual Career Fair, scheduled for April 2014 at Temple University.

The economy is tough. Times are hard. We want to serve as the portal to help job seekers with their mission in finding employment and assist regional companies in their efforts of finding workers.

Following the success from last year's effort, the 2015 career fair is the perfect recruitment venue rewarding companies with access to community applicants to employ in the vast area of communication. PABJ is proud to partner with like-minded companies that are committed to community engagement.

The PABJ Career Fair is open to all persons of any ethnic background and/or sexual orientation. The fair will also include tips and information on job readiness for job applicants.

  • One table and two chairs for your company representative.
  • Event billing to reflect your company’s participation in this event.
  • There will be a microphone / stand setup for our speakers to be heard clearly by job fair attendees.
  • Adequate security to ensure the safety of our guests.
  • Proper and quality presentation of billing in all publicity releases and paid advertisement.

2013 Philly Freelancer/ Communications Job Fair

The Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists (PABJ) would like you to participate in this region’s first Freelancer/Communications Job Fair, Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The economy is tough. Times are hard. We want to serve as the portal to help job seekers with their mission in finding employment and assist regional companies in their efforts of finding workers.
Though it could possibly lead to one, the Philly Freelancer/Communications Job Fair is not a fair for full-time employment. However, it’s a great place where job seekers can make a solid start in building their careers; earn college credit; and make extra money.

The fair is also a good recruitment venue rewarding companies with access to applicants to employ in the vast area of communication.
PABJ is proud to partner with like-minded companies that are committed to community engagement. The Philly Freelancer / Communications Job Fair is open to all persons of any ethnic background and/or sexual orientation.

The fair will also include national renowned speakers and information sessions providing tips and information on job readiness.

Some highlights of serving on a committee:
  • have three to four committee members, all of whom should be PABJ members
    hold regular meetings as needed (monthly or bi-monthly), can be via conference call or in-person
  • send the PABJ president or secretary information regarding committee meeting times/dates to be included in member outgoing announcements
  • report to the board re: the status of the committees progress, usually monthly and/or if and when applicable
  • if the committee will be producing an event, submit an event sketch AND budget to the board and membership for approval
  • for any committee events, submit a final event report including: a) details on the program/event information that took place AND b) a financial breakdown of the event costs and/or revenue

Please note: no individual member or committee may sign a contract on behalf of PABJ or enter into a contract with any party for PABJ services. Contracts need to come to the PABJ executive board for review and may only be signed by the PABJ president and treasurer.

These entities within PABJ actively develop, implement
and execute multimedia communications strategies for chapter members.

PRISM Magazine:
Serves as an outlet for chapter members to get multimedia work published and empowers the community to become citizen journalists and learn multimedia.
