Help Us, Help Others
The Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists (PABJ) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of journalists, journalism students and media-related professionals and to diversity in the media. PABJ invites your support during our 2017-18 season.
PABJ provides quality programs in the Greater Philadelphia region, and we are seeking your organization’s support in 2016. PABJ is committed to offering community outreach programming, awarding student scholarships, honoring excellence in the media and advocating for diversity in newsrooms and in media coverage. Formed in 1973, PABJ is the founding chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), which today boasts more than about 3,300 members worldwide. PABJ has won national honors as the 2008, 2010, and 2014 NABJ “Chapter of the Year.”
PABJ offers important professional and community programs throughout the Philadelphia region. In 2015 we hosted a Mayoral Candidates Forum, a master class on the 30th anniversary of the MOVE Bombing in Philadelphia, a Media Monitoring event, and much more. This year, we launched the PABJ Training Institute, hosted our Annual Media Access event, and held a master class on how to cover "Muslims in the Media" in partnership with PhillyCAM. We are also gearing up to honor some of the best and brightest in journalism at our Awards & Scholarship Reception, while awarding $2500 in scholarships.
The 2017-18 PABJ Corporate Sponsorship package offers a variety of opportunities for exposure in the Philadelphia 5-county area, South Jersey and Northern Delaware. You can gain exposure through PABJ events scheduled for the year.
